Asharqia Chamber organizes a workshop reviewing the support of the National Center for Family Enterprises for the business sector.
Talal Al-Ajlan, CEO of the National Center for Family Enterprises, explained during a workshop that reviewed the center's support for the business sector, that the center stems from its message that emphasizes supporting family businesses to implement best practices and standards that enhance their growth and sustainability.
Al-Ajlan said during a workshop held by the Asharqia Chamber represented by the Commercial Committee on Tuesday evening, October 19, 2021, and moderated by the Chairman of the Committee Hani Al-Afaleq, that the center does not target profit, but rather represents the interests of family businesses and works under the umbrella of the Ministry of Commerce and in coordination with the Council of Saudi Chambers, noting that the center cooperates With the public and private sectors to serve national development.
Regarding the areas of the presence of family businesses between Al-Ajlan, the Riyadh region includes the equivalent of half the number of family businesses in the Kingdom, which is equivalent to 45 percent, and the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region comes second with a presence rate of about 28 percent, while the third-largest presence of family businesses is located in the Eastern Province, accounting for 18 percent The rest of the regions represent less than 1 percent.
Regarding the center’s initiatives, Al-Ajlan pointed out that the National Center for Family Enterprises is cooperating with the Ministry of Economy and Planning and the Ministry of Commerce to achieve the strategic goal of “promoting companies’ interest in the sustainability of the national economy” through several initiatives that work on setting and activating a framework to motivate large companies to implement national standards for sustainability, and to develop family businesses. Towards sustainability in business performance, work has also been done with many ministries and government agencies to review the systems and procedures related to family businesses in the Kingdom, and to participate in holding workshops and lectures to raise awareness of the importance of governance with governments and private agencies.
